The New Course was designed by Old Tom Morris and opened in 1895, making it one of the oldest ‘new’ courses in the world. Originally built to alleviate the popularity of the adjacent Old Course, its reputation as a great golfing challenge is sometimes overshadowed by its more famous neighbour. Many would say however (the locals in particular) it is just as good with its undulating fairways and challenging greens making it a classic test of Links golf.
St. Andrews is only 12 miles from Elie and takes just under 20 minutes to reach by car.
