A 9 hole course existed on the current site and golf was said to have played there as far back as 1793. The course was closed at the outbreak of the second World War as it was seen as a potential landing site for an invasion.
The course re-opened in 2000 as a full 18 and considered by many to be one of the world’s great courses. Despite it being relatively new, the clever & subtle design by American golf architect Kyle Phillips, has meant that the course looks like its been there forever and has some of the most spectacular views anywhere in golf.
