News from the Pro Shop

We are delighted to welcome our newest member of staff, Keith Bowman to the Pro Shop and Golf House Club starters’ team. Keith has recently enrolled on the first year of the PGA training programme and is now working towards becoming a fully qualified PGA Professional.

Prior to joining the team at Elie he worked for 2 years at the Dukes Golf Course in St Andrews as a retail assistant and Starter. Keith is a very passionate golfer and has been a scratch handicap since the age of 14, having played in the 2015 Alfred Dunhill Links as an amateur.

Keith’s ambition is to specialise in junior coaching and develop the junior programme at the club during his PGA training.

Batty wins Scottish at Elie

The new champion with Club Captain, Kenneth Garland.

In a final of the very highest quality Gemma Batty (West Linton) beat Gabrielle Macdonald (Craigielaw) by one hole to win the 2018 Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship. Scoring throughout a week of warm and sunny weather was exceptional and the competitors were delighted with the links conditions.

Next R&A Captain an Elie Member

Mr Christopher Hilton has been nominated by the Past Captains as the next Captain of the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews. He takes office during the Autumn Meeting in September.

Chris, who lives in Newcastle, follows several other Members at Golf House Club Elie who have held this prestigious position in world golf.

Awards for Elie Assistant Professionals

Congratulations to Elie assistant professionals Michael Bradfield (pictured) and Graeme McDougall who finished ahead of over 200 other assistant professionals to finish first and second in the awards for best year two PGA professional held at Birmingham University.

This feat has rarely been achieved by two people from the same facility and reflects very positively on their dedication and hard work.

Elie Sports Club PGA Professional, Gavin Cook said of the award ‘Very well done gentlemen and good luck for your upcoming final exams’.

Low season green fees are available for visitors and will be in operation from 22 October 2018 until 22 March 2019.

Elie is a top quality winter golf destination, without mats or temporary tees and greens.
